Key Insight: Some members arrive with ready-to-work initiatives, while others need space for brainstorming and exploration. The community should be inclusive of both groups. The experience showed that crafting clear mission and vision statements can be more effective than developing a detailed plan in the community environment. A mission statement defines what the project or community does, who it serves, and how it functions. A vision statement articulates its long-term aspirations and the impact it aims to achieve.
